Matters arising from the minutes of the last meeting 29th August 2013.


1  MR had visited Tourist Office to discuss how visitors find out about Fairtrade use by B&Bs. Their website was
not useful for finding out which B&Bs served Fairtrade products.


2  John Riches, of Just Trading Scotland gave a talk about Malawian Fairtrade rice to teachers at Auchterderran.

Website

28 people visited the site last month.   TD is to check out if the website is linked to University Fairtrade Facebook
page.  Action:TD

Citizen photograph of Fairtrade Group handing over renewal certificate to councillors is to go on website.
Action: MP

Campaigns

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship did not seem to have any Fairtrade products for sale.

AM is to email IC about the list of hotels and contacts’ names.

Action: AM

PR is to ask Scottish Fairtrade Forum if they have any literature aimed at the tourist sector.  He
is also to find out if they have a list of wholesalers so our website can be updated.

Supermarket Campaign during Fairtrade Fortnight.
JC to book a stall at Morrison’s – booking not possible before November.
PR to request Fairtrade postcards from Scottish Fairtrade Forum.
AM to survey a selection of Fairtrade products in 4 supermarkets prior to postcard campaign unless this
survey is completed by students.JC suggested our flier should include some websites where Fairtrade products
may be bought online. MP suggested Patrick Mathewson’s St Andrews Fellowship group might like to survey
all shops/cafes in St Andrews prior to updating the website/flier.

Liaising with the University FT Group.
PR is to contact the Scottish Fairtrade Forum re a speaker in FT fortnight.

TD is compiling a Fairtrade recipe website. Competition – prizes for best entries.
Letters should be sent to Citizen and Madras.

AM is to find out if the Community Council is celebrating St Andrews Day. Action:AM
PR is to send us details of a meeting in Glasgow about procurement.
