20 years of fair trade in St Andrews
20 years after becoming a Fairtrade town, the campaign group threw a party for friends and all those who helped along the way. There were representatives of churches, schools, the University and many individuals who have offered support through the years. It is as important now as it was at the start to continue to buy fair and ethically produced and traded goods. Martin Rhodes former CEO of Scottish Fairtrade and now MP for Glasgow North and Chair of the Cross Party group on fair trade at Westminster give a speech and our MP, Wendy Chamberlain and MSP Willie Rennie also came to support us. Our birthday cake was created by teachers in the Home Economics Department at Madras College and food was provided by students at Madras and Sunshine Kitchen, a Fife based catering company which provides employment for young people with additional needs.
